My point

Should I buy Blokus?: The Blokus games retails for $29.99, which isn’t too bad given that you can break this out with almost anybody. If you are looking for a good “family night” game, Blokus is fantastic. They also sell a travel version for cheaper, which would be a wonderful use of car rides for you or your kids. It also acts as a good filler game, since it only takes 20 minutes to play a Blokus game. But you could also make a short evening out of it, playing best-of-5. If you are into games like Go, Tetris, or Chess (or can answer “Yes” to the above questions), then I would strongly think about investing in Blokus.

So fun

My daughter and wife enjoyed Blokus a lot (my daughter even asked if we could play again and again). My 7 y/o daugther picked it up fast enough to win the second game (she even told us her strategy for the second game - "I used all of my big pieces first." I may have to try that next time . So, I'd definitely recommend Blokus for 7 and up. The Blokus game itself is rated for 5+.

All in all, I'd defintely recommend Blokus. It's fast. It's easy to learn/teach. It's fun. It's challenging. And you can play Blokus with your kids!

Blokus for your kids

Blokus is an in-your-face, territory domination game in abstract format. It is a highly interactive contest that is best with four players and with its fast play and good replay ability it is one of the more interesting, if lesser known, new games around. Part of Blokus obscurity may be its French origin and the fact that few comments have been made about it in most of the normal German game sources.

The pieces in Blokus are nicely colored plastic that are hearty enough for normal play, but will certainly break or crack if stepped on accidentally. The Blokus game comes packaged with rules in four languages, a trend that is nicely becoming more common especially with non-German European producers. There is a nice implementation of the game online at www.blokus.com, and it is worth trying the game here before buying a physical copy to see if this is your cup of tea. The physical game is worth owning, though, as it will appeal to gamers and non-gamers alike and provides a refreshing and interesting play in a short period of time.

Blokus games

Blokus is one of those rare games that has a rather addicting quality, very often there's a desire to play "just once more". There's something about a really clever play that blocks your opponents while opening up lots of future moves that is very satisfying. In fact, that really sums up Blokus—very satisfying.
